FROM THE OWNERS
*Cue Jaws theme*
Ahoy there! It's Shark Week y'all, and we're preparing to be packed to the gills for another jaw-some weekend with a fin-tastic special coming your way.
Our latest special promises to make a splash: fresh lane snapper, filleted in-house, with a delicate, slightly sweet flavor and a firm, flaky texture. Paired with summer veggies and cacio e pepe (that’s cheese and pepper pasta), it’s a taste of the ocean that won’t weigh you down. This special will pair well with a light, acidic white wine such as Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc. If you're looking to try a cocktail, remember that we have a delightful trio of bellinis available all summer in lemon, peach and raspberry flavors. 🍹🍷
I've mentioned in past emails that my long-time nickname is Sharky, so Shark Week has a special place in my heart. Some of our customers even call me that sometimes (you know who you are 😉). It's a nickname I received many, many years ago at the Blue Dog Cafe from a beloved dishwasher there, Anthony, aka Cowboy. He had nicknames for lots of us - and where he got "Sharky", don't ask me. But the name stuck like barnacles on a ship's hull, and now I'm even known as Aunt Sharky to my nephews. He also called Dani, our current daytime manager, Lon-delle - so Mr. Pat, consider yourself armed with a new one for Dani’s next shift! 🤠😘
Aww Cowboy - few compare, even now, to how good he was at his job.
In honor of Shark Week, I thought I'd share a link to some of the New Yorker's best shark-themed cartoons. I enjoy following the New Yorker on Instagram, and this collection brought some joy to my week, so I hope they will for you, too.
Do you even need to de-bait where you'll catch a bite? We know in this city of amazing eats it can be difficult to chews. No need to cast a wide net—we’ve got your dining destination right here. So, gather your chums, chart your course, and drop anchor at Antoni's this weekend! 🌊
….love your play on words too!😄
Great food!
