THE WEEKEND DINNER FEATURE:

Fresh Wild Caught Sheepshead

Blackened Fresh Sheepshead, served with Capellini in a Light Lemon Beurre Blanc with Cherry Tomatoes, Red Onions and Capers.

FROM THE OWNERS

Have you heard the phrase, "March roars in like a lion and goes out like a lamb?" I've been thinking about that a lot this week, which has been somewhat gloomy, blustery, and as we saw last night, stormy ... it must be March roaring in!

There's lots to do this time of year. The Lafayette Azalea Trail - which runs 25 miles throughout Lafayette, including along Coolidge Boulevard - issued a BLOOMWATCH this week. Starting this weekend, the azaleas should start to pop, and we will all be in for a springtime show. This Sunday and next they're offering a Trolley Ride to showcase the blooms.

You can find out more about the event and the history of the Azalea Trail on their website, or by clicking the link to the right. >

We're continuing our simple and delicious Friday Lenten specials this weekend with blackened fresh sheepshead - a flavorful fish with a rather unattractive face, hence its name. Due to the fact that it feasts on barnacles and clams it has rather a rather distinctive toothy visage. But it's not the "black sheep" of the sea by any means. The sheepshead's diet is typically varied and nutritious, lending to a delicate, shellfish-like flavor with a firm and flaky texture. Alongside our tangy lemon caper beurre blanc with bursting cherry tomatoes and tender red onions, it makes quite a match. If you're looking for a wine pairing, try our Ant Moore New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc or Louis Jadot Chablis with dish. If you prefer red, we think a light and fruity Pinot Noir would pair well with the blackened fish and capers.

If you follow us on social media, you may have caught the special sneak peek of our new menu covers this week. That's right - coming very soon, our large, laminated menu will be replaced by a new bound, four-page menu. We are so excited to showcase the fresh layout, and you may even see a menu item you never knew we had before!

We hope you'll join us in our dining room soon. We'll see you when you get here!
