Are you a pluviophile, or lover of rain? If you are, you must be on cloud nine this week. I have to say that I don't mind summertime rain showers one bit. ๐ฆ๏ธ I love watching the rain, which can be turbulent as we saw this week, but then typically winds down to something rather peaceful and calming. It's often the perfect opportunity to enjoy an afternoon cappuccino and a good book. Plus, it's been nice not to have to water the plants as often.
We've also had a little visitor in our garden this week - a baby monarch caterpillar! ๐ We're watching him chow down on our milkweed, and hoping it'll have some other caterpillar friends join him soon. ๐ฆ
Dark clouds have us cooking up a storm with tri-color peppers and roasted oyster mushrooms for our weekend fish special. Halibut is always a hit, and you won't want to take a rain check on this special. We suggest trying it alongside Les Sarrins, a Provenรงal rosรฉ which offers a delicate balance of red fruit flavors, floral notes, and refreshing acidity. Itโll make a fine pair with the char and texture of the grilled halibut, the brightness of the peppers, and the oyster mushroom pasta sauce, which provides a pleasing umami flavor.
๐ท We'll have some heavy hitters in the Blu Room on Friday, with a few of the original members of local band Modern Jazz Movement playing some standards. Have you been in the Blu Room yet? Lots of people have been asking about it, and it's turning out to be a nice alternative for waiting guests and those who want to enjoy the classic Antoni's flavors in a different ambience. Your entire meal can be enjoyed there, or simply wine and appetizersโthe only rule is that itโs first come, first served.
